Tricksters dupe three, including minor, of cash, cell phone
Nagpur: In separate incidents, tricksters duped three people of cash and cell phone. In first two incidents, a youth tricked two persons to get the secret code of their debit cards to withdraw cash from their account. Geeta Bokde (37), a resident of MHADA colony, Nari, reported the matter at Pachpaoli police on Wednesday afternoon. Bokde told police that she had gone to withdraw cash from the ATM on Kamptee Road with her son.

She said that an unidentified youth at the ATM centre helped her withdraw the cash as she was finding the operations difficult. He got the secret code of Bokde’s debit card and tried to withdraw money for her. When the attempts failed, he told Bokde that the card was not working. However, immediately after Bokde left, the youth withdrew 40,000 from her account. Bokde told that the card belonged to her relative named Pramod Ranolke. Police have booked the unidentified youth for fraud. Cops are trying to get the image of the trickster captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the ATM centre.
In another case, a youth duped a man of 40,000 using the same trick. Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, Hudkeshwar Road resident Mahesh Joshi (37) informed that he along with his wife had gone to withdraw cash from his father in-law Satish Padole’s debit card account. Joshi had gone to the ATM centre at Nilkant Nagar on Wednesday evening when a youth engaged them in talks and took the ATM card. The youth managed to get the secret code and withdrew 40,000. A case has been registered at Hudkeshwar police station.
In third incident, two men lured 17-year-old Vaibhav Kaushik of cash, documents and a cell phone worth 12,500. Wardha resident Vaibhav had come to the city on Wednesday evening when the two men approached him and offered him to solve his problems and arranging for prayers at a nearby Hanuman temple. Later, the duo made way with Kaushik’s bag containing the valuables. A case has been registered at Sitabuldi police station.
